What Dino Hatch knows about your child: almost nothing
This page is maintained by the maker of Dino Hatch to explain, in plain language, what the app stores, where it lives, and how the parental gate works. Dino Hatch has no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no third-party tracking, and it does not run a server of its own.
What is collected
Everything Dino Hatch saves is created by using the app, and it stays on the device:
- Your child's general age range — used only to keep the wording and content age-appropriate.
- Unlock progress — which dinosaurs have hatched, and the alarm streak count.
- Timer and alarm settings — durations, alarm times, repeat weekdays, and sound choice.
- App preferences — language and display options.
No name, no email, no birth date, no location, no contacts, no photos, no device advertising identifier, and no usage analytics are collected. Nothing is sent to us, because there is nowhere for it to be sent.
How iCloud sync works
Sync is optional. When it is on, the collection, streak, and settings travel between your child's iPhone and iPad through your own private iCloud account, using Apple's iCloud storage on your device's Apple ID.
- The data goes to your iCloud, not to a Dino Hatch server. We cannot see it, read it, or restore it.
- Turning iCloud off for Dino Hatch in iOS Settings keeps the app fully working — it simply stops syncing between devices.
- Deleting the app and its iCloud data removes the collection everywhere it synced.
Data transparency
| Data | Purpose | Retention | iCloud sync |
|---|---|---|---|
| General age range | Keep wording and dinosaur facts age-appropriate | Until changed or deleted | No |
| Hatched dinosaurs | Remember the collection and unlock progress | Until deleted | Optional |
| Alarm streak count | Show and save consecutive on-time mornings | Until deleted | Optional |
| Timer settings | Restore recent timer durations | Until changed or deleted | Optional |
| Alarm settings | Store alarm time, repeat days, and sound | Until changed or deleted | Optional |
| App preferences | Remember language and display choices | Until changed or deleted | Optional |
Nothing else is collected. No name, email, birth date, location, contacts, photos, device identifier, or usage analytics are ever stored.
How the parental gate protects kids
Anything a child shouldn't reach on their own sits behind a parental gate — a short challenge that is easy for a grown-up and awkward for a young child.
- Settings and age configuration are gated.
- Data deletion is gated.
- The optional one-time tip jar is gated, so a child can never reach a purchase button.
- Nothing in the app is paywalled: everything is unlocked from day one, so there is no incentive to nag or buy.
- There are no outbound links, no web views, no chat, and no user-generated content anywhere in the kid-facing experience.
Deleting everything
You have two ways to delete Dino Hatch data, and both are fully in your control.
Delete from inside the app
- Open Dino Hatch on the device.
- Tap the settings area.
- Clear the parental gate.
- Choose the delete-all option.
This wipes the collection, streak, settings, and stored age range from the device immediately. If iCloud sync was on, it will also delete the synced copy across your iCloud devices.
Delete from iCloud settings
If you want to remove the app's data without opening Dino Hatch, you can delete it directly from iOS:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your Apple ID name at the top.
- Tap iCloud → Manage Account Storage (or Manage Storage).
- Find Dino Hatch in the list and tap it.
- Tap Delete Data from iCloud, then confirm.
This removes the synced copy from iCloud. The local copy on the device remains until you either delete it in the app or delete the app itself from the device.
Request deletion by email
If you ever cannot delete data yourself, send a request from the email address associated with your Apple ID to Dinohatch@spijker.pro. Include a clear statement that you want all Dino Hatch data deleted. Since we do not operate a server, we cannot reach your iCloud data directly, but we will reply within a few business days with exact step-by-step instructions for your situation and, if needed, how to file the same request with Apple iCloud support.
